I and Ahmed, my friend, were coming back from a site seeing trip on our Bicycles. We started in the morning and had gone to a nearby area famous for its Apples, Apricots orchards. It was about 20 Km one way ride. It was a valley with beautiful lush green Orchards and full of natural springs having ice cold water. Different rain Nullahs were also flowing through the valley. It was full of naturally grown bushes and shrubs. When one enters the valley the scent of Mint, Apple, Apricot and roses and different wild flowers refreshes one’s mind and one feels like visiting the Heavens on earth.
We had spent the entire day sightseeing and had lot of fun. As it was getting dark, so we decided to move back. The Sun was setting and it was getting dark.
We were bicycling side by side and enjoying the cold breeze and the scenic beauty all around. We were moving down the road between thickly grown Orchards. Suddenly, out of nowhere, a woman appeared on the roadside. When we approached near her, she signaled us to stop. We stopped. The woman came near us. She was a young girl and extra ordinary beautiful.
She came to me, as I was near her on this side of the road, and said,
“Look, I have an emergency and I want to go to the city. Can you provide me lift”? Before I could answer, Ahmed whispered in a very mysterious voice, “Don’t reply and talk to her. Look! Her feet are facing backward. The moment you answer her, you will turn to stone or come under her influence and she will have full control on you as she is a Witch”.
To my horror, I looked towards the girl’s feet and YES! they were facing backward. All Her toes were on the back of the foot and heels were on the front side.
In panic, we hurriedly paddled our bicycles and tried to run away from her as fast as we could. But, to our astonishment, she was running on our side and however fast as we tried to bicycle away, she kept the pace. We could see that her feet were not on the road. They were above the road, as if she was Flying/Gliding/ Surfing.
Out of sheer fear, we jumped from our bicycles, and ran into the nearby thick Orchard. By then it was quite dark and we could barely see each other. We held our hands, kept running and started moving towards the general direction of the city. Meanwhile, we were looking all around us and had a sigh of relief that she was not seen anywhere and we apparently got rid of her.
By then, we were quite tired, thirsty and hungry and panting badly as, it was almost an hour that we were running. As she was not in sight so, we started walking and looking around for some help as we were lost.
Suddenly, in the distance we noticed a light. We started walking towards the light in hope of finding some water/ help. On reaching close, we noticed that it was a Lantern glowing in a near distance hanging outside a hut made of straws. Normally, in this part, the farmers make such huts and these are generally used as their field office/guard post.
After seeking permission we entered the hut and saw an old man sitting besides the wall and having a blanket over his lower half of the body for protecting himself from cold. The evening/nights are quite cold in these parts.
On hearing our need for water, he pointed towards a corner of the hut and we saw a pitcher lying there with a silver glass on top of it. We had water which was pleasantly cool. This calmed our nerves. We thanked and sat in front of the old man with a view to ask him the direction of the city and the distance.
The old man enquired our presence there at this hour. We narrated the whole story as to what all had happened with us. Hearing all, the old man asked,
“How can you say that it was a witch? It could have been a normal girl in need of help”.
Ahmad told him that her feet were reversed. As her toes were facing backward and heels were in front.
You cannot imagine the shock of horror we got after that. The old man brought his feet out of the blanket and said,
“Were they like this?”
His feet were having heels in front and toe at the back. And he transformed into the same girl.
Out of fear we cried out at the top of our voice, jumped up and ran for our life and never looked back.
I don’t know how we reached back our home. In the door step of my house, I fainted.
When I came to senses, I saw that a doctor was at my side and my father, mother and sisters were surrounding the bed with a worried look in their eyes.
I was running a very high fever. The doctor gave me some injection and after a little while I felt drowsy and went to sleep.
The fever settled after three days. On asking, I learnt that same fate also is happening with Ahmed.
Though so many years have passed but still we could not understand as to what was that ........

Durrani ,its interesting story but I was watching an Islamic program just few days back on the Dunya TV channel about Jinns and Bhoots......There was an Aalim Dr Zaheer and a Medical Dr Jameel Khalid,Jinns do exisit as narated in the Holy Quraan..without doubt but Bhoot is a mental state of mind...so I thought I should add some info about both. Glad you opened this discussion.
Jinn in Islam
In Islamic theology jinn are said to be creatures with free will, made from smokeless fire by Allah as humans were made of clay, among other things.[7] According to the Qur'an, jinn have free will, and ʾIblīs abused this freedom in front of Allah by refusing to bow to Adam when Allah ordered angels and jinn to do so. For disobeying Allah, he was expelled from Paradise and called "Šayṭān" (Satan). Jinn are frequently mentioned in the Qur'an: Surah 72 (named Sūrat al-Jinn) is named after the jinn, and has a passage about them. Another surah (Sūrat al-Nās) mentions jinn in the last verse.[8] The Qur'an also mentions that Muhammad was sent as a prophet to both "humanity and the jinn," and that prophets and messengers were sent to both communities.[9][10]
Similar to humans, jinn have free will allowing them to do as they choose (such as follow any religion). They are usually invisible to humans, and humans do not appear clearly to them. Jinn have the power to travel large distances at extreme speeds and are thought to live in remote areas, mountains, seas, trees, and the air, in their own communities. Like humans, jinn will also be judged on the Day of Judgment and will be sent to Paradise or Hell according to their deeds
No mention of Bhoots in Islam and Quraan however Hindus do have believe in Bhoots and this is how they feel:
Characteristics of bhoots
Bhoots are able to alter and assume forms of various animals at will, but are usually seen in human form.[8] However, their feet often reveal them to be ghosts, as they are backwards facing.[9] As the earth is regarded as sacred or semi-sacred in many traditions of the Indian subcontinent, bhoots go to lengths to avoid contact with it, often floating above it, either imperceptibly or up to a foot above.[9] Bhoots cast no shadows, and speak with a nasal twang.[10] They often lurk on specific trees and prefer to appear in white clothing.[11] Sometimes bhoots haunt specific houses (the so-called bhoot banglas, i.e. bhoot bungalows), which are typically places where they were killed or which have some other significance to the bhoot.[12]
Many ghost stories in the region combine these elements. For instance, they might involve a protagonist who fails to flee or take countermeasures when they run across a bhoot. Instead, they unwittingly accept the bhoot's companionship (e.g., makes the ghost a companion as he/she walks through a forest, picks up the ghost in his car because it looks like an attractive woman waiting by the roadside at night). They become progressively aware that their companion is dressed entirely in white and has a funnily nasal voice, before the horrifying realization dawns on them that their companion's feet are turned backwards, or he/she is not casting a shadow in the moonlight, or is walking without actually touching the ground. Bhoots are said to seek out milk and immerse themselves in it. Consuming bhoot-contaminated milk is considered a typical route for bhoot-possession of humans, which has also been a frequent plot element in bhoot stories.[10]
A particular kind of bhoot, that of a woman that died during pregnancy or childbirth, is known as a churail (dakini in Nepal and eastern India). Churails look like human women, but their feet are turned backwards or other features are turned upside down. They can change their forms at any time. Churails often try to lure young men at road crossings and fields or similar places. If a man is enamored of a churail, it is believed that she will cause his death. There are, however, stories of people living with a churail, or even marrying one.
